Naqib Sarwary
Founder and Co-Director
Born and raised in Afghanistan, Naqib started Camp Afghanistan in his hometown of Ghazni in 2017 because he wanted to share his educational experience abroad with his peers at home. Forced to flee Afghanistan, Naqib went to Canada when he was 21.
Taking pride in identifying as a global citizen, Naqib has traveled globally to seek knowledge. He believes attending a summer camp in India, when he was 17, was a life changing experience for him and that inspiration has led to this initiative to give back to his community.
Naqib currently works with Amnesty International Australia and runs Camp Afghanistan as a volunteer commitment.
He has studied Global Political Studies at York University in Toronto. He has also attended Bard College’s Globalization and International Affairs program in New York.
Naqib believes access to quality education is a basic human right and we all have a responsibility to uphold and promote this right globally.
